Things That Are Awesome - Brick Forge
Today's blog entry is something a bit different. Instead of reviewing a cheapy set that I picked up for a pound I'm covering something awesome.
Today's blog entry is all about Brick Forge gear and Brick Forge gear is pretty awesome.
Please excuse the window sill. It's not mine. Mine have more dust and less scratches.
There's not a whole lot to say about. It's a neat little part, it's well made and it fits minifigure hands perfectly. The metallic ones I got in my first Brick Forge order, the transparent blue one in my second one. I'll probably end up ordering a black one or something in my next one, whenever that is, because I do like this part a lot.
The transparent blue one was a bit of a bargain. Ten cents instead of the normal price of a dollar. Their sale section is full of bargains like that, which is what got me to make a second order and is probably what will influence me to make my third. There really are some bargains. :)
Freebies of course don't hurt either.
I ordered one of the Coilgun above in my last order and instead I got three of them, which was nice. Both of my orders arrived with a couple of related freebies thrown in for good measure. Of course when I recieved my first lot from them and saw a part I hadn't ordered and one I had but in the wrong colour I thought that there'ds been a mix-up, but no, no mix-up, just freebies.
The Military Rifles above were also in the Sale section at 25 cents, again down from a dollar. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them, but at that price I couldn't resist. Like all of the parts I ordered, they're a nice fit and very high quality.
Yeah, you're not going to get a whole load of snark in this review, because really there's nothing to be snarky about.
The Grease Gun is also a very nice part.
And so is the MegaGun.
These bladed weapons too.
The Falcata, that's the green one, was one of my freebies from the first order. I wouldn't have picked that colour personally, but it was free and that is awesome. The other freebie was a different colour version of another part that I had ordered, which ended up inspiring a strip idea, so I'm not going to show that here or hint to what it is because that might end up being a bit of a spoiler and nobody likes a spoiler.
Unless you're talking about the DC character. The DC character's pretty cool.
The Tribal Sword's an interesting one. It doesn't actually look much like a sword in those colours, they're too bright and cheery, but they were 25 cents each and they're neat looking. Expect to see them mounted on a wall somewhere in the comic.
These I didn't buy for use as swords. I bought eight of them and they will all appear in the comic. Are you curious yet?
Anyway, these were another sale section bargain at only ten cents. Eight swords for eighty cents? Bargain!
Seven things I didn't get at sale prices are these:
The photo isn't perfectly clear, but those smaller bottles have, in order, a heart, a ghost and an ankh on them and they're awesome.
I also got some cool headgear. The beret, which I got four of, was 35 cents each. Normally they're $1.50. Have I mentioned how much I love the sale section?
Anyway, time for some modelling I think.
I also got an orange mohawk
The Savage Mask is another really cool part which will be showing up later on in the comic. Take note though, it isn't suitable for all minifigure heads as shown above. The mouth on the green army head lines up nicey. The other two are clearly a little out, so if you're thinking of getting one or two of them (they are available in several colours after all) and you want to use a particular head with it make a quick check of the relative eye and mouth positions because it might not entirely work out.
Oh, and just in case anyone's interested, here's what some of the headgear look like on a Friends figure.
Thanks to Brickforge headgear and fake beards your minifigures too can be masters of disguise.
That thing is my most expensive Brick Forge buy and well worth the money I think at four dollars. Some of the centaur bodies are currently on sale down to only two dollars, but not any of the colours I wanted, damnit!
The Gun Belt and Waist Armour are both pretty neat and you can put a variety of stuff in them. Of course it would have been good if I'd thought to have things to put in there with me, which I didn't, because I'm a numpty.
Brick Forge do some other neat stuff as well like musical instruments. I've got two of their electric and two of their acoustic guitars. Unfortunately I seem to have lost one of the electrics, so here's a phgoto of the other three with a Lego Flying V guitar for reference.
They also do a microphone, which they were doing before Lego introduced theirs I believe. I've noticed that Lego seem to have introduced a few parts recently that the likes of Brick Forge and Brick Arms have already been doing. I wonder if they've been keeping an eye on them?
Well, anyway, that's almost all of the Brick Forge stuff I own and I think they're awesome. Sure, I'm not a fan of every part they have and every colour choice they make, but there's the awesome thing with ordering individual parts, it doesn't matter. :D
Now I just need to get one of these scooters and one of these scooters, becuase they're, well I would say awesome but they're better than awesome. They're... um... Yeah, I'm out of superlatives. Just look at them.
